I've seen the posts about authors behaving
badly, and I know some writers participate in nasty stuff like paying for
five-star reviews, sending minions out to flag or bully people who write low
reviews, or messaging scathing little notes to bloggers who don't say something
satisfactorily enough about their stories. This sickens me. Not only does it
give all authors a bad name, but it's cheating! While these authors are out
there controlling what's being said about their books and upsetting the amazing
blogging world, other authors are receiving lower or fewer yet honest ratings.
It makes it impossible for readers to know what to believe when they see
reviews, and that's just not right. It's bad for bloggers, authors,
readers...just everyone.
I cannot express in words what an honor and
thrill it is to see a brand new, unprompted review pop up for one of my
stories. To know that someone voluntarily chose my book above others to
entertain them for a spell and then go a step further to write down their
thoughts and feelings about it....it's just...it's an amazing feeling. Doesn't
matter if it was a good or bad review; they gave me a chance, and I love and
appreciate that! My job is to put my heart and soul into writing the best story
I can; everyone else's job is to sit back, relax, and take away whatever they
want from it.
So...doing this is my guarantee to you that if
anyone so chooses to read, review, promote, or even mention my next book, it's
because they want to freely and honestly with no censor, prompting, bullying or
otherwise harassment from me.
Another reason - Not too long ago, I received a
message from someone telling me one of my incredibly close online friends was
involved in pirating my stories. When I confronted the friend about it, she
thought maybe I'd been sent this message because someone was jealous of her for
always getting early copies from me. I thought that was crazy. I'm not any kind
of popular, big-name bestselling author. Who gives that big a whoop about plain
ol’ me? But if leveling the playing field and making sure everyone starts out
with a fair, equal opportunity will avoid future heartbreak and drama for me,
then that's what I'm going to do.
Then I came to find out, the pirating had most
likely come from someone else but still someone I'd given an ARC to (I don’t
have one hundred percent concrete evidence which person actually did it),
so...that decided the issue for me. Ebooks will only be coming from me in the
form of a gift through Amazon, Barnes and Noble or iBooks. I know there are
still ways to pirate and share those versions, but at least they'll have to put
a tad more effort into it if they do.
This way, everyone has the same chance as
everyone else to win the story, and winners aren't required to read, review or
even look at the book again if they don't wish to! They'll have to work a
little harder for it if they want to become involved in criminal activities,
and...they won't be getting an earlier copy than anyone else because I hit
publish a few minutes ago; it'll be available early...sometime within the next
few hours to the next few days.
There are still great things about the book
world, a couple controlling authors, thieving readers, and rude cover models
notwithstanding. It's a place for escape, adventure and happily ever after, and
that's the part I'm going to continue to celebrate and enjoy!

PricelessForbidden Men, Book 8
New Adult Romance FORBIDDEN MEN Book 8 ISBN : 9781519008152 Length : 106,000 words Available : 21 May 2016 In Ebook and in print Three things in my life were fact. I needed Sarah to survive. I needed sex to remain sane. And I could never mix sex with Sarah. I just knew—deep in my marrow—that if I did, I’d somehow lose her. All my deepest darkest secrets would crack open, bleed out, and ruin everything between us. I wouldn’t unleash the shit inside me on my worst enemy, let alone her. So she stayed strictly in the friend zone. People probably thought I never went there with her because of her cerebral palsy, but f*ck them. She knew she was the most important person in my world, and I wasn’t about to risk hurting our relationship just to make my c*ck happy. Until the moment she begged me to take her virginity. Now it’s all about to hit the fan, because how the hell do you resist the one person forbidden to you when she says please? --Brandt Gamble EXCERPT :
“Let me just get one
thing perfectly clear,” he said, holding up a stern finger in reprimand.
I crossed my arms
over my chest and arched my eyebrows, ready to meet his scolding with full-on
sass. “Oh? And what’s that?”
Grabbing a handful
of the front of my shirt, he yanked me against him until our mouths crashed
together. His tongue roughly sought entrance, wrapping around mine and
effectively sucking every thought I’d ever had straight from my brain before he
released me and pushed away again, breathing hard.
I blinked, swaying
from the quick, powerful assault. Then I pressed my hand to the side of my
still-spinning head before yelping, “What the hell?”
“I’m sorry,” he
growled, eyes flashing with anger...but mostly with heat. “Maybe you didn’t
hear me clear enough.”
And he kissed me
again. Just as hard, just as intensely, but maybe a little longer this time.
When he pulled away
slowly, I licked my lips, relishing the taste of him on my tongue. Then I drew
in a breath, trying to recover from the punch of arousal he’d ignited.
“Okay, maybe you
should say that one more time,” I was
finally able to utter. “Just so I’m perfectly clear I understand what you mean.”
He grinned. “Yes, ma’am.” Smashwords Buy Link = https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/637918 |
