In the Works

Tuesday, February 7, 2017
For anyone interested in knowing what stories may or may not be coming from me next, here are my writing plans for the future!!

CURRENTLY WRITING -

For anyone who's read Fighting Fate or Loving Lies, you may be happy--or possibly terrified--to learn I've finished 32 chapters of the rough draft for Bailey's story, and have five (or less) chapters to go!!

The tentative title for it is BELIEVING BAILEY

If I self-publish it, it could be here by June, but Omnific Publishing has the first right of refusal to it, so if they'd rather take it on, I will have no idea when they would publish it (hopefully before next February).

I came up with a blurb for it! I don't know if it will stay the official blurb, but at least it'll give you an idea what the story is about!

So maybe Bailey experiences one small voyeuristic moment after finding herself trapped in a bathroom during some lame frat party. I mean, who wouldn’t peek? Am I right? And she feels extra guilty for it afterward, anyway. It shouldn’t be such a big, awful, terrible ordeal.

Except it turns out to be the biggest trial she ever encounters. She has no idea this one experience will make her the sole witness to a crime, or actually a non-crime. Whatever. The point is everything now relies on her. Her testimony could free a guy from spending years behind bars. Her testimony could ultimately free her, in a roundabout way, from ever thinking she was incapable of love. Her testimony is frankly the key to everything.

That is, if anyone actually believes her.

WHAT I PLAN TO WRITE AFTER THAT-

I'm not sure exactly what will come after Bailey's story, but I have ideas for about ten books swimming around in my head right now. Here are what I'm calling my ideas (In alphabetical order) along with what I think the stories will be about:

(All titles, names, and ideas subject to change!)

1. Assimilation -
Young Adult Standalone Romance.

When two high schools merge after one closes, senior Sawyer Black becomes strangely fixated on new girl Lily Kassel. She’s different, and he wants to protect her.  But he doesn’t realize just how different she is until her secrets are revealed.  Lily doesn’t have to assimilate into a new school, she needs to learn to fit in with the entire world.

2. Broken Vows -
Adult Romance - Maybe on the Suspense side.
Book One of The Broken Series (Plans for 4 in that series).

Inez Quimby had the biggest crush on wild boy Gabe St. James in high school, but just when she thought maybe something magical might be happening between them, he turns away and ignores her completely. Twelve years later, she’s the chief of police of her hometown, and she just had to arrest Gabe’s younger brother for the murder of his wife. So Gabe’s back in town to help take care of his two nieces and try to help prove his little brother’s innocence. It doesn’t take long to learn that old chemistry is still alive between them, but since they’re one different sides of the case, old lies and scandals rise to the surface, affecting not only their budding relationship, but the future of Gabe’s brother.

3. Creeper -
Adult Standalone Romance.

Nebraska Kohl arrives in a small Arizona town to take care of her ailing grandfather during his final days. She had no idea she’d learn so much dirt about her father’s side of the family. But what peaks her interest most is the reclusive groundskeeper of the town’s cemetery. Everyone calls him Creeper, not just because of his name (C. Reeper) but because he’s different.  After being conceived through rape, everyone thinks he comes from bad blood and will turn out rotten too, especially his mother he takes care of. What’s even more startling is the fact that Nebraska has caught him watching her more than once. But strangely enough, she’s not freaked out, because she’s just as fascinated by him as he is by her.

4. Just One Date -
Young Adult Standalone Romance.

After her car battery dies outside her high school’s hockey game when Hayleigh technically wasn’t supposed to be out of the house (since she was grounded), Foster Ridgeway offers to get her jumpstarted and NOT tell her parents about it if she agrees to go on a date with him. The thing is, he’s popular and she’s not, so she doesn’t understand why he’d come up with such a crazy form of blackmail. But she quickly learns life doesn’t always have to make sense when it comes to Foster. Some things can turn social convention right on their head.

5. Kissing the Boss : A Cinderella Story -
Adult Standalone Romance.

Kaitlyn has no interest in attending her company’s huge Halloween party, but then she hears her crush might possibly attend, and so her stepbrother coaxes her into going with him. All she wants to do is gain the attention of this one coworker she likes. She never intended to gain the interest of the big boss, Ezra Nash, himself. After Nash gets her alone and they start to talk, and then start to kiss, Kaitlyn is almost discovered canoodling with him by her stepbrother—which would be bad, since Nash is kind of, sort of dating but not-really her stepbrother’s mom—so Kaitlyn runs off….of course leaving behind her shoe in the process.  The only problem is her stepbrother “borrowed” that shoe for her from Kaitlyn’s other, not-so-nice stepbrother, and she doesn’t have $1200 to replace it. So now she needs to steal it back from her boss, who has it sitting on a shelf in his office, without being discovered, because she has a bad feeling she might get fired—or murdered— by her stepmother if anyone figures out what happened.

6. Never Gonna Happen -
Young Adult Standalone Romance.

Peyton’s mom and mine were best friends. They weren’t just close; I’m talking they were the same damn person inhabiting two different bodies. They grew up next door to each other, sat out of gym class together, were arrested for keying some jerk’s car together, then they went to college and lived in the same dorm room together.  They met their husbands on the same night and got married within a year of each other, then they found houses on the same block, and got pregnant with their first babies three months apart.

They even coordinated their first children’s names to go together.  At first, they decided Peyton would take my last name for her first name and I’d take her last name as my first, so we’d be Royce Kinsey and Kinsey Royce.  But then, our mothers realized that wouldn’t work because they had already planned before we were even born that we’d get married someday, at which point it would sound really strange for Peyton to go from Kinsey Royce to taking my surname and becoming Kinsey Kinsey, so...they used their maiden names and flip flopped them, naming us Spencer Peyton Kinsey and Peyton Spencer Royce. I’m not sure how they decided which of us would be Peyton and which would be Spencer, but I kind of don’t care either, because since the moment she was born, Peyton Royce has been forced on me.

You think I exaggerate? Hmph. I wish.

We shared a crib together, took our first steps together (but only because Peyton is a freaking little overachiever who just had to start walking at nine months to my twelve months), took baths together, we started our first day of school together, we even got braces in middle school together.  Honestly, there wasn’t a single memory from my childhood where Peyton wasn’t right there beside me.  It was always, let Peyton play with you, give half your candy to Peyton, don’t let Peyton sit alone at lunch, drive Peyton to school, be nice to Peyton. We were treated like twins, yet always expected to fall in love one day and get married.

But the thing was, I didn’t love Peyton. And I’m pretty damn certain she didn’t even like me.  We were complete opposites, except no, we were even further apart than that. We couldn’t be compared to night and day because those were still measurements of time, connecting them.  There was no connection between Peyton and me. We were more like night and banana. We had absolutely nothing in common, except that our mothers were two of the most irritating, pushy, intrusive people on the planet.

Don’t get me wrong. I adored our moms—really—but they had to let this silly notion go, because one thing had become abundantly clear to me over the years. I would never marry Peyton Royce.  I think it was my one goal in life, actually. So, sorry Mom and Wanda, but you just weren’t going to get your way on this. Someday they’d be forced stop grinning like they knew something we didn’t, and they’d stop saying, never say never, because I just did.
Gauntlet dropped.

Peyton and I? It was never gonna happen.

7. The Price of Mason -
New Adult Romance.
Book Ten of the Forbidden Men Series (Final Installment).

I had one mission in life; to take care of my family. And how did I do that? By selling myself to the highest, horniest bidder. But while I made my clients’ wildest fantasies come true, I had a couple fantasies of my own, like getting my sister, mom, and myself out of Waterford, like finally being able to live a normal life, like maybe, actually dating girls I got to choose to be with for once. Even as I started working toward those dreams, one quirky brunette tripped her way into my life. She was way too cheerful, and honest, and innocent to belong in my world, expect that was exactly why I liked her. She was like a fresh blast of sunlight after being trapped in a dark stagnant room for too long, and I was drawn to her. The more time I spent with her, however, the more I fell for her, and the more I grew confused.  Was Reese Randall impeding the goals I was trying to reach…or becoming them?

8. What Yale Wants -
New Adult Standalone Romance.

It started off as nothing, just an insignificant, forgettable run-in on his college campus.

But the impression of her soft warmth bumping into him, the flyaway strands from her hair brushing past his face, the scent of her skin invading his nostrils stuck with Yale Hasting long after they went their separate ways. He can’t get the shy stranger out of his head.

Soon, she’s haunting his nights with vivid arousing dreams, stealing his attention from his friends, cutting into his concentration while he’s supposed to be studying, and ruining him for every other woman out there. Desperate to stop craving her, he’ll do anything for a quick meaningless fling to get her out of his system.

It’s a good thing he’s handsome, charming, witty, and a marketing major. He should be able to sell himself no problem.

There’s only one small hitch in trying to convince Mattie McIntyre she should let him borrow her body for a couple hours—possibly days. Her father is Yale’s ticket to his future dream job.
Now that he has to keep his hands off her, he’s forced to actually get to know her, and—gasp—he actually begins to like her.

9. Witch Klutz -
Young Adult Standalone Paranormal Romance.

As a teen witch, you’d think I totally rock, right? I mean, I’m a witch. Hello. But honestly, I don’t. Honestly, I'm just a miserable, awful klutz of a girl. Example: I hate Emma Greenson more than … well I just hate her, okay. But when I brewed a tonic to turn her beautiful golden locks into the color and consistency of broom bristles, I flubbed the whole thing up. Who knew half an extra mushroom would transform my bad-hair revenge into a love potion? Now my hot boy crush is crazy about HER while I’m still the lamest witch this side of the cafeteria.

Just when I swore to myself I would never again attempt another potion, the boy of my dreams—literally—explodes into my life—again, literally—and needs MY help to save the world. Is this my chance to finally prove I’m not a complete failure, or is all humanity doomed under my spell? But more importantly, will I get my first kiss before I turn sixteen or die an old maid like my two strange, old aunts?

10. Won't Anyone Marry Mikayla? -
Adult Standalone Romance.

Every day’s an odd day for Mikayla Shaughnessy when it’s her job to change adult diapers and help little old men like Mr. Pratchett find his dog...that died thirty years earlier. When one of her favorite, most peculiar, patients at the Sunnyvale Retirement Center where she works dies and names Mikayla as the sole beneficiary in her will, however, odd takes on a whole new meaning.  Now Mikayla’s set to inherit millions, but only if she meets a few stipulations first, like get married within the next thirty days. Now all she has to do is find a husband willing to follow through with a wedding and then stay with him for at least a year. Sounds like it should be an easy mission with all that money involved. The only problem is nothing is ever easy when it comes to Mikayla.

CONCLUSION -

So those are the ideas I have for future stories. I have no idea if any of them (except The Price of Mason--that will definitely get written someday) will actually get finished or when they'd arrive if they do, but this is the direction I seem to be going!

And just because I love to fiddle with making covers, I created covers for all these possible stories. Again, who knows if they will be the actual covers I end up with, but at least it gives you a visual idea of what the future of Linda Kage stories may resemble!!

If any of them strike your fancy, let me know, and I may give that one more consideration to work on next than the others. I do love feedback!

Thank you for your time!  Happy Reading!
