 What I've Been Writing:

Still working on Impostor or the Prince (formerly called Day Robber and Dearest Thief). I'm at 115,000 words written right now, and that's after deleting over 10,000 words this week, so I actually put in a lot more writing than it seems. I just finished chapter 37, and am about to kill off someone I really hadn't planned on eliminating. But as soon as the idea struck, I was like YES, and I got even more excited about the story!  Trust me, you want this guy gone. But anyway, I'm probably not too far from being done with the rough draft, though I honestly have no idea how many more chapters it'll take me to complete. Finishing this will be my first genuine, all-out cliffhanger. Wish me luck.

What I've Been Reading:

I finished reading Silver Elite. Loved it. It's definitely in my top five of the week. I started a new book, but I haven't gotten too far with it. I'm considering setting it aside so I can start on Warrior Princess Assassin because I've heard such good things, but...we'll see!

What I've Been Buying:

Got three books this week. Warrior Princess Assassin came from Barnes and Noble. It arrived in a much timelier manner this time than last (must've heard I was talking smack about it!). Oh, and it's autographed. How cool is that?  Then, I found these two Letters of Enchantment duology books on Ebay, so I snagged them. And that's about it this week.

 What I've Been Writing:

You're gonna hate me, but...I changed the title for Day Robber...again. Now, I'm calling it Impostor or the Prince. It just fits better.  And it really hit this week, too. I'm satisfied with the amount of writing I got done, and I'm excited for what's coming next. Once I made it through a bottleneck of scenes I knew I needed but wasn't all that enthused to write, it's been snap, snap, snap (that's the sound effect for me frantically typing away on my keyboard, by the way--no idea why I used the word 'snap;' just go with it, please). The manuscript is unlike any story I've ever crafted before, so I hope you all are down to give it a try.  We're at 111,000 words written, and I've completed the first 32 chapters.

What I've Been Reading:

So I'm not saying I'll never finish the book I was reading last week, but... I maybe, kind of, sort of picked up another one and am plowing my way through Silver Elite instead. I'm so sorry, Daughter of Redwinter, but OMG, SILVER ELITE.  I'm really enjoying it. I guess it's just more my speed. Everyone's got their own favorite flavor of genres, am I right?

What I've Been Buying:

My August book subscriptions for Book of the Month Club and Allurial came in this week, which was awesome. Then I got a couple more: some at Walmart, some from a used book store, some from Amazon, and I ended up with seven total new books! Eek. I have no idea which one I want to read first, though. I saw this video of someone putting all their TBR titles in a jar and pulling one at random to choose their next read.  I am seriously considering that idea.

 What I've Been Writing:

The manuscript that I'm still calling Day Robber (for the time being) is now at 93,000 words long. I like the direction it's going. I'm feeling good about it. Can't wait until I can share it with you guys!

What I've Been Reading:

I finally got through Forbidden Alchemy. The ending broke my soul. Just like the cliffhanger in The Traitor Queen by Danielle Jensen, the dude thinks the girl betrayed him. Ugh. The agony.

And now, I'm reading Daughter of Redwinter by Ed McDonald because the girl who sold me my Danielle Jensen books at Books-a-Million said I should try it. So...I am. Sadly, I don't think it's a romance, which is... I can't even remember how long it's been since I read a non-romance.  But it's going good. And by good, I mean there's lots of terrible trauma happening at the moment. Everyone the MC knows and loves is dead or has disappointed her to the point that you really want them to die. So... yeah. I'm engrossed!

What I've Been Buying:

So my copy of Daughter of Redwinter came in this week. That's one book.  Then, on Tuesday, I received a slew of special editions I had pre-ordered. And they are definitely special. I got:

  • The Theory of Deaming by Ava Reid,
  • Immortal Consequences by LV Marie,
  • The Deal by Elle Kennedy (it has picture inserts. So cool!), and
  • Forged in Blood by Sadie Kincaid.
