11 Weeks to GO

Thursday, December 3, 2009
It seemed like only yesterday I was thinking, "I'm almost eleven weeks along. Can't wait until I'm eleven weeks pregnant," and now there's only eleven weeks left. Wow. It's so close, yet so far away, I think the anticipation might kill me. Even the hubby is getting curious about our little one. The other day he mused, "Think she'll be blond [like him] or brunette [like me]?" The question made me all warm and bubbly inside, glad he's as excited as I am.

I've entered my third and final trimester and I've finally started a journal-type thing for the baby, even titled it "Letters to Lydia." One of my great blogger buddies...I think it was Tamika maybe...made the suggestion to write letters to her, so I've been doing that for a month now. I had no idea writing a few letters could be such an emotional experience. But sometimes I get weepy-eyed just telling her how much I already love her and sharing current experiences in my life (yes, the hormones are definitely working!).

On the statistics side of things, I had another sonogram last week. She is a whopping two pounds and six ounces with a 145 heartbeat (which is perfect). Her current home measured 26 centimeters, which is pretty much on target, and I only gained one pound in three weeks!!! Of course, I had this doctor's visit the DAY before Thanksgiving, so who knows how much I put on since then. Sigh. If you can't tell, I was worried I was going to gain as much this month as I did last month. It's nice to learn I was wrong.

I've provided pictures of both me and Lydia for you to see. Too bad mine's a bit blurry (hee hee). The little princess was too busy wiggling around to stay still a second and pose for her shot, so they didn't come out too well either. This one is a side profile of her face with her head at the left side and her staring up. Her hand is up by her mouth (ironically enough, her feet were up in that area too). In the second shot, I circled her head in yellow and her arm in red--maybe that'll help you see her better. The doctor showed us her mouth, nose, and eyelashes (there was no cleft above her lip either, yay!) and he kept saying, "She has a pretty little face," which I totally appreciated.

She's currently breech, but she has eleven weeks to flip in the right position before she's born. But other than that, all is well, and I'm happy and satisfied!

  1. WOW! Ain't it grand, my friend? You have SO much cool stuff going on in your life right now. I AM so very happy for you and proud that I can call you my pal.

And I'm praying for both of you. Lydia is a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl.

Love looking at the pics. And don't worry about the weight. It can be lost. I'm living proof of that. :)

  2. Oh, and did I mention how beautiful you look? You have that GLOW they say a woman has when she is pregnant.

    GLOW ON, my friend.

  3. You are definitely the glowing picture of pre-mommyhood:)

    Lydia is gorgeous!

When I entered the 3rd tri of my kids, I craved chocolate cones from Hardees with K (in a blizzard, around 10pm!); ice from any fast food restaurant with S (had acid reflux...she came out with a full head of hair, lol!), and was still on a Snickers kick with W. Any more strange cravings from Miss Lydia?

And when she gets older, she will TREASURE these letters!

  4. Robyn -- It really, really is grand. And thank you for all your compliments. Bless you!

Molly -- Thanks to you too! Lately, I've been wanting to go to Taco Bell and Red Lobster. Sea Food and taco? Is that too strange a craving? You'd think one of those fish tacos would sound good to me. But it doesn't! Hmm.

  6. You both look wonderful! I think the idea of writing letters is great. My mom wrote me a letter just before I was born and I finally got to read it around the time I graduated high school. Good memories.

  7. Awww! Love the pics! My mom wrote me a letter too and it makes me feel so good. I wish I would've thought to do that with my kids, but I didn't.
You look so cute! Don't worry about weight. If you gain less than 35 lbs, it'll slide right off. :-)

  8. I, too, meant to write letters but didn't. Think I'm going to have to go write one and backdate it....

:) Lydia will be here before you know it. It's going to be awesome!

  12. You are so small! There are some natural things you can do to get the baby to flip. Lay on your back and prop your bottom up under some pillows for 30 minutes if you can. Gravity should make the baby want to turn. I actually took a long car ride and my daughter decided to turn during that. Also swimming and doing handstands in the water has been known to help. Tips from your crazy friend. :O)

  13. You look so cute in that picture, Linda. It doesn't seem possible that you only have 11 weeks to go. Aren't the ultrasound pictures wonderful? They didn't have them when I had babies.

Though I know you're anxious to meet Lydia, enjoy this time.

  14. Aww...you look so cute! And your baby is beautiful!

I still have my ultrasound pic of my daughter. Her profile then still looks exactly the same. It's amazing.

  15. Diane - I hadn't heard those baby-flipping techniques before. Wow. I might have to try that in a couple weeks here! Thanks.

Linda - Thank you. So far, I've been enjoying every moment! Each stage is new and exciting in its own way.

Jennifer - So this is really what my baby's profile's going to look like after she's born? Wow. I love it.
