Where's all the Water?

Thursday, June 3, 2010
At my day job on Wednesday, all the water was cut off in our building because the city was working on our water lines. So, no restrooms and no water...all day. When I got home from work, my husband said, "Oh, yeah, the water's turned off. The telephone company hit a water main when they were installing new phone lines." No water at work; no water at home from about 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm. Thank goodness I'm no longer pregnant and have to use the bathroom every half hour, huh.

In other Linda news, it's official. I am NOT writing for the money! I received my first royalty report yesterday. It was exciting to scan through, made me feel like a real author. But the amount certainly won't pay my bills--well, maybe one bill. Oh, well! I love to write, nothing's going to stop that. Ya gotta start somewhere, right?

  1. I can't believe they made you stay at work with no water. I would've had to go, need a bathroom! :O)

Yeah for $$$$ big or small.

  2. Oy, I don't think I could make it through 3 hours without water. You are trooper.

  3. First of all—New Follower! *waves*

I don’t know how I’ve missed your before this—we follow a lot of the same blogs—but I’ve found you now! (Cue ominous music) I love connecting with other writers, so I can’t wait to get to know you through your posts.

And wow--I don't think I could've made it through that many hours without water, not because I'm pregnant, but because I'm a big baby. :) Congrats on the royalty check. Even if it's not a ton of money, it's still getting paid for doing something you love, which is pretty darn cool if you ask me.

Anyway, it's nice to meet you. I do a lot of my blog hopping at work, so I don’t always comment—but I’m an excellent lurker, so I’m still reading, even if you don’t see me.

    Happy Thursday!

  4. I've hit one water line while drilling...trust me, it wasn't fun. Everyone hates you. Not as bad as when you throw smoke bombs in sewer lines, but close.

And the money will come, just keep it up. You'll see!

  5. Hi Diane and Natalie!
I guess I should confess; the water thing really wasn't that bad. Every other building on campus had water, so we all could just pop across the street if we needed to.

And hi Shannon! *waves back* Thank goodness I'm not the only person that will blog cruise during work.

Jackie! So, YOU'RE one of those kind of people I was cursing the other day! Great to hear from you.

  6. Ah, yuck! Water problems are the worst! And I agree, we're definitely not writing for the money! :-) I've only gotten advances so far, and everyone is right when they say not to quit the day job!

  7. What? No water or bathroom? Ugh. You ARE a trooper!

  8. They're replacing a fire hydrant as I type:) Cut off my water about 30 mins ago, just as I was about to get in the shower! CRAP!

Congrats on the royalty check sweetie:) Did you take a picture of it to frame?

(insert sarcasm) Proof we make big bucks at this...right now anyway!!

  9. A royalty check is a royalty check. *grin* You're so right about starting somewhere. There's a verse in the bible about not despising little/small starts and I think it's true.
Congrats on the check! I'm sorry about the water. I hope you had some water bottles or juice or something. :-)

  10. I hate being without water! What is really funny is when the water comes back on and you realize you left water faucets on all over the house and they are now spitting at you!!! lol
